A Beautiful Winter Day

Last Saturday in between snow storms, we had a beautiful sunny day so we took a trip up to the cabin. We snowshoed in, drank some hot chocolate, let the kids play for a few minutes and then headed out. Does this tempt anyone for a winter cabin weekend? It was a balmy 32 degrees inside the cabin.. brrr. It was beautiful up there though. Pay no attention to Neil's runny nose.Monday, January 28, 2008

The late afternoon lull
Late afternoon can be rough for us. Kids are hungry, bored, grouchy. We can't wait for Russ to get home. I'm trying to put dinner together. Yesterday, Cheryl called me with this idea that saved our late afternoon.
Instructions:
Step outside on the deck. Scoop up a bin full of snow. Let the kids dig in it with shovels, measuring cups, etc. They had a great time playing with the snow and we all stayed warm & relatively dry inside. Cheryl's version was even easier clean-up. They played in the sink, so when they were done, just washed the snow down the drain. Any other ideas for curing the late afternoon winter blues?

The End

I think this is why people live in CA.. because you can enjoy an afternoon at the beach on January 2. Sigh... back to winter.
